Mayor Brian Grim presents Fort Hill student Brandon Stotler with a Certificate of Recognition, honoring his selection to participate in the Baseball Factory Under Armour National World Series.

CUMBERLAND — With a goal of becoming a professional baseball player, Fort Hill High School junior Brandon Stotler is heading to the Baseball Factory Under Armour National World Series in Bradenton, Fla.

Stotler was selected out of thousands of athletes to compete against the best players and teams in the country. Each team is coached by professional baseball players and professional scouts.

“I’ve trained for years with the hopes and dreams of playing with the best,” said Stotler, who met recently with Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim.

The mayor presented Stotler with a Certificate or Recognition for his selection to play. “Cumberland is proud of our young citizens who train hard and study hard to achieve their goals,” said Grim.

The National World Series will be played in August.

Participants are re-quired to pay their own transportation, hotel, food, training, uniform and registration costs, which total $3,499 for Stotler.

With a June 20 deadline to submit payment, Stotler has been fundraising with hoagie sales and raffles, but is still short of reaching his goal. “I love baseball and hope you will be able to help,” he told Grim, who offered a donation to support Stotler.

Donations may be sent in the form of a check made payable to “Baseball Factory,” to Brandon Stotler, 12808 Growdenvale Drive, NE, Cumberland, MD 21502.

“My goals are to play baseball in college and maybe someday after graduation, play professionally,” said Stotler.
